Will the new GSX-R live up to it’s storied history?
It’s here, almost. Suzuki pulled the covers off a new GSX-R1000 at the Milan show – but called it a ‘concept’ model. Why? Because production is delayed and it will arrive in late 2016. And yes, it will arrive. This is an all-new GSX-R with a brand new inline four engine with variable valve timing and the traditional bucket and shim valve train replaced with finger rockers like the R1 and S1000RR. The electronics include traction control, launch control and variable fuel maps, but the TC isn’t gyroscopically controlled. Interestingly, Suzuki people were keen to say the GSX-R would remain the cheaper option, so when it does arrive expect it to be priced noticeably below the competition.
Suzuki’s SV650 has been to the plastic surgeon.
Also new from Suzuki is an updated SV650A, which is basically a Gladius with a better look. It will only be available in naked format and boasts ABS and a small increase in power over the current SV model. Jon Urry
