Aerostich’s Versi-Multi-Omni Shelter, $197
The Versi-Multi-Omni (VMO) from Aerostich is a simple, lightweight, compact, highly packable fully seam-sealed rectangle of tough fabric with a water-resistant seam-sealed sealed coil zipper around the outside edges, and a tunneled cord-locking drawstring around an extended D-shaped extension at one end. Self-stores within built-in 16″x9″x3″ zippered pocket or rolls tightly into 9″x5″ bundle when secured with integrated hook-and-loop cinch strap. Black three-layer rip-stop nylon fabric.
It can be used as a bag that opens fully flat for use as a ground cloth, blanket or tarp. Zipped closed, it becomes a serviceable and water-resistant bivy sack to keep you and your sleeping bag and pad dry. Useful and comfortable alone as a hot weather blanket or sleeping sack, too.
There are five reinforced webbing loops to attach parachute cord plus a double reinforced area at the center, useful when tented over any kind of pole. Rigged as a tarp, it keeps rain off a campfire. Set this way, it’s also good for providing campsite shade in the heat of the day. It can be a protective footprint beneath the floor of a tent on a site that’s wet, rough or rocky, too. Throw it over your bike and riding gear to protect them overnight. Use as a trailside picnic blanket at a lunch stop. Black three-layer rip-stop nylon fabric.
