Bruce Anstey has signaled his intent early for TT 2015 by setting the pace in the Superbike category after clocking a lap of 128.641mph on his Padgetts Honda CBR1000RR. The New Zealander, still without a Superbike TT victory yet in his career, headed 21-time TT victor John McGuinness by under one second, with McGuinness clocking a lap of 128.596mph.

Third in Superbike went to PBM Kawasaki’s Ian Hutchinson, the Yorkshire rider clearly back to full fitness and speed following his horrendous accident in 2010 that nearly saw his left leg amputated. Hutchinson’s 128.300mph lap also saw him clock the fastest trap speed at 192.3mph on the Sulby Straight.

Fourth went to Tyco BMW’s Guy Martin at 127.435mph, with Honda Racing’s Connor Cummins rounding out the top five in Superbike with a 127.388mph lap.

Reigning TT champion Michael Dunlop was off the pace as he attempts to get his Milwaukee Yamaha YZF-R1 up to speed around the Island as he clocked a lap of 124.519mph for 13th place.

In the Superstick category, Australian David Johnson pulled a surprise by stealing the fastest lap on his Smiths Racing BMW with a 125.182 lap to head fellow BMW rider Michael Rutter (124.938mph) and McGuinness (124.832mph).

In the Supersport class, Anstey again took the top spot with an incredible 125.218mph lap to lead Guy Martin (123.082mph) on the Smiths Racing Triumph and Gary Johnson (Yamaha, 121.678mph).

Practice continues tomorrow with the first race the Superbike TT on Saturday June 6.
