Andrea Dovizioso Tops The Time Sheets At Mugello

Ducati’s Andrea Dovizioso fired the first shot at his home Grand Prix, topping the time sheets on day one at Mugello. The Italian—who also led the first session—set a 1:47.479 to improve his morning time by four-tenths of a second and edged out Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez by .164 of a second. The previous round’s winner, Movistar Yamaha’s Jorge Lorenzo was third.
The other Andrea—Iannone—was fourth, trailing his teammate Dovizioso by .559 of a second. Monster Yamaha Tech 3’s Bradley ended the day in fifth ahead of fellow Brit Cal Crutchlow on the CWM LCR Honda.
In seventh was Team Suzuki Ecstar’s Aleix Espargaro, who is riding after having surgery last week on his injured thumb.
EG 0,0 Marc VDS’ Scott Redding was eighth. Rounding out the top 10 was a pair of Yamahas—Valentino Rossi on the factory machine and Pol Espargaro on the other Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine.
Marquez’ teammate ended the day in 13th, just under a second off the pace of Dovizioso.
