Kawasaki has taken it’s classic Concours 14 and added some new goodies to further enhance what is a already a darn good motorcycle. The new 2015 Concours 14 ABS is all new with an even more sport-oriented flair about it. We were already impressed with the previous version, so how much better can it get? We recently got the chance to find out a little bit of what the new Concours is all about after taking it for a quick spin in the Southern California area.
For starters the new 2015 version of the Concours 14 ABS features a host of significant updates meant to enhance both the sporting and touring nature of the motorcycle. Upgrades to the chassis, brakes, transmission and windscreen are just a few of the refinements Kawasaki felt were needed to increase the Concours 14’s appeal as a true “Sport Touring” motorcycle.
The Concours can handle the long hall with comfort and ease while being able to attack the sportier side of riding with a confidence and gusto to push hard.
The added rear preload and newly designed front steering seal actually help make the chassis come alive. As you can imagine, the preload keeps the rear of the bike in check driving out of the corners and through the faster sweepers while the improved steering seal makes the Concours that much easier to negotiate the tighter sections of road. It’s great for traffic maneuvers and parking situations, as well.
A new front brake-master cylinder enhances braking with better feel and stopping power. The Concours’ linked-braking system has been refined, as well. On the touring side of things a new electronically controlled windscreen and new seat design are equally impressive and add to the overall comfort level of the new Concours. The Concours is available in two colors: Candy Lime Green and Metalic Spark Black and both version have an MSRP of $15,499. Keep your eyes out on a future issue of Cycle News for a full evaluation of the new Concours 14 ABS.
