The following is from Yoshimura R & D…
CHINO, CA (August 14, 2013) – Yoshimura, Suzuki and Superbikes. It’s almost like you can’t say one without the other. Simply put, they go hand in hand. Bread and butter. Milk and cookies. Yoshimura and Suzuki. Racing and winning.
Now it’s time for Yoshimura to wish our friends at Suzuki a big old happy birthday as they celebrate their 50th anniversary of doing business in the U.S.
At this weekend’s Indianapolis MotoGP, Yoshimura will help Suzuki celebrate its landmark 50th by bringing out some of the motorcycles that chronicle Yoshimura Suzuki’s domination of AMA Superbike racing. Those motorcycles range from Mat Mladin’s 1999 Suzuki GSX-R750 to Ben Spies’ 2008 AMA Superbike Championship-winning GSX-R1000. And how about another look at the 1998 twin-cylinder Suzuki TL1000R that Steve Crevier raced in that year’s AMA Superbike Championship?
Suzuki is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the 50-year anniversary of the company officially entering the American motorcycle market and Yoshimura will be there for the ride. In addition to the motorcycles that helped put both Suzuki and Yoshimura in the record books, Yoshimura will help Suzuki celebrate its big weekend by having its factory race rig and canopy set-up for spectators to browse through with a staff of knowledgeable personnel on hand to answer questions and bench race with the thousands of fans expected to pour through the turn-two Suzuki Fan Paddock. It will be hard to miss as Suzuki is building the largest customer display of any of the manufacturers to celebrate in style at this year’s Indy MotoGP.
Partners in performance, Yoshimura and Suzuki have won over 400 AMA road races and over 170 AMA Superbike races – over 50 more than the nearest competitor. Seven of the past 10 AMA Superbike Championships have been won on Yoshimura Suzukis. Can you say domination?
As for the men who have dominated on Yoshimura Suzukis, the list is long: Mat Mladin, Ben Spies, Jamie James, Wes Cooley… and that’s just in the Superbike class. Many more have earned titles riding Yoshimura-prepared Suzukis in AMA Supersport classes like 600cc Supersport, Formula Xtreme, 750cc Supersport…
So come out this weekend to Indianapolis Motor Speedway and help Yoshimura wish Suzuki a happy anniversary on its 50th year of doing business in the United States.
