The 2012 FIM Motocross World Championship concluded with the German Grand Prix in Teutschenthal, September 23, where Red Bull KTM Antonio Cairoli and Team Floride Monster Energy Kawasaki Pro Circuit’s Tommy Searle claimed the overall wins in the MX1 and MX2 classes, respectively. For Cairoli, it was his seventh overall victory in a row, his 11th of the season and the 58th of his career, and for Searle, it was his eighth GP victory of the year. Cairoli and Red Bull KTM’s Jeffrey Herlings had already clinched the class championship at the previous round.

KTM’s Ken Roczen, the 2011 MX2 World Champion, returned to his home country to compete in the final round and did so in the MX1 class for the first time. Roczen finished out the day second overall with 3-2 placings. Roczen actually passed Cairoli for the lead in the first moto only to stall his bike and lose a couple of positions.
Third overall went to Belgian Clement Desalle who went 2-4. The Suzuki rider finished out the championship in second, followed by Frenchmen Gautier Paulin (Kawasaki) and Christophe Pourcel (Kawasaki).

Swiss rider Arnaud Tonus (Yamaha) finished third overall with a 6-3.
