Hopkins Out For Donington
Cycle News Staff | May 9, 2012
The dire luck of John Hopkins continues as the Crescent FIXI Suzuki rider will miss this weekend’s World Superbike round at Donington Park in England with the injuries he suffered on Sunday at Monza more serious than originally thought.
Hopkins suffered a broken bone in his right foot and torn muscles in his left hip when he was highsided from his GSX-R1000 in the first race at Monza – a race that was later aborted because of inclement weather conditions.
It was originally expected that Hopkins would be fit to ride at Donington, but a further scan revealed the injury to be worst than first thought and he has no choice but to miss the event. The Californian is hoping to make a full recovery in time for the U.S. round of the World Superbike Championship on Monday, May 28 at Miller Motorsport Park.
Crescent FIXI Suzuki says it will have an announcement on a replacement rider soon.
