The following is from Indianapolis Motor Speedway…Motorcycle fans can see the exotic machines of World Championship motorcycle racing up close during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP Pit Walkabout on Friday, Aug. 27 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.The Pit Walkabout takes place from 9-10:45 a.m. and is free to all Friday ticket holders. Fans must enter and exit the Walkabout at the south end of Gasoline Alley.Fans can stand adjacent to the open garages, getting a clear view of the 800cc prototype machines upon which MotoGP stars such as Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Americans Nicky Hayden, Ben Spies and Colin Edwards will compete during the Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Aug. 27-29.Many teams in all three classes continue extensive preparation work on their bikes, giving fans photo opportunities and an unparalleled look at the most sophisticated motorcycles on Earth, which exceed 200 mph on the front straightaway at IMS.Teams in the Moto2 and 125cc classes also will have their garages open and bikes on display.While no autograph sessions are scheduled during the Pit Walkabout, selected riders have appeared “along the ropes” in front of their team garages to sign and pose for pictures in the first two years of the Pit Walkabout.The Pit Walkabout is one of a variety of fan-friendly activities Friday morning at IMS before on-track action starts at noon. Other activities include the Cycle World Seminar from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and the Riders For Health charity auction from 10:30 a.m.-noon, both on the SPEED Stage located in the IMS infield. In the Riders For Health event, top MotoGP riders each will auction an item to fans, with proceeds benefiting the Riders For Health charity.Motorcycle enthusiasts also can browse and purchase the latest gear and aftermarket accessories all three days at the Vendor Marketplace in the Gasoline Alley Garages. Enthusiasts also can check out the newest models of off-road and street motorcycles from major manufacturers at the Manufacturers’ Area in the IMS infield.Indianapolis Motor Speedway Official Trackside Gift Shops and the MotoGP team/rider official merchandise areas will be open all day.***IMS tickets: Tickets for the 2010 Red Bull Indianapolis GP are on sale now.
