Tyler Bowers and Josh Demuth shared victories at the AMA Arenacross in Council Bluffs, Iowa, March 12-13. Bowers started off the weekend with a start-to-finish win on Friday night, while Demuth scored a hard-fought win on Saturday, making it a sweep for the Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki team.
Bowers shot out of the gate Friday night and led all 25 laps, collecting his ninth win of the season. Bowers’ teammate Chad Johnson worked his way up through the pack to finish second, while defending champ Jeff Gibson finishes third.
On Saturday night, the racing action intensified, as three riders mixed it up for the lead all race long. Bowers, Johnson and Demuth, all Babbitt’s Monster Energy/TiLUBE Kawasaki team riders, battled back and forth, with all three riders leading the race at one time. And Gibson was never far out of the picture.
When it was all over, Demuth came out on top, followed by Johnson and Bowers.
After 15 of 19 rounds, Bower still enjoys a comfortable points over Demuth, 328-304. Johnson is third with 282.
In the Lites class, Cory Green and Daniel Aulseybrook shared the wins in Iowa. Green, on the Reynard Mod’s Kawasaki, took command on Friday night, taking the win over Aulseybrook and Foremost Insurance Yamaha rider Jim Neese.
On Saturday night, Aulseybrook scored his first career victory with a wire-to-wire win over series points leader A.J. Catanzaro, and Neese.
With three races to go in the AMA Arenacross Lites Western Regional Championship, Catanzaro leads the way with 153 points, followed by Green with 137 points, and Neese with 93 points.
