Press Release | June 16, 2009
Since 1969, Unadilla has been a track synonymous with motocross. The famed facility hosted its first AMA Pro Motocross national in 1972 and ever since, Unadilla has stayed true to its roots and remains one of the most unique and challenging tracks in the world. As the oldest track on the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Schedule, New Berlin, New York’s historical gem has been the site of many legendary racing moments, as well as some of the most exciting races in series history. To celebrate the track’s 40th Anniversary, MX Sports Pro Racing has announced that this summer’s event will have a “Retro” theme during the August 15th event.Everyone is invited to participate in the retro theme and is encouraged to wear something that celebrates the history of American Motocross from a bygone era. In the spirit of the old school, riders will don throwback-designed gear, reflecting the various styles, colors and patterns of the past 40 years of motocross as they fly in and out of the infamous Gravity Cavity. While the sport has evolved, Unadilla takes pride in maintaining the heritage that makes it such an outstanding layout. Long, steep hills, natural tabletops, deep ruts and scattered rocks line the track, which gives it the unique character riders and fans enjoy. All fans in attendance at the Unadilla Pro National are also encouraged to immerse themselves in the retro atmosphere by wearing old school gear of their own like vintage motocross apparel and the same bright colors that made the sport stand out throughout the 80’s and 90’s.Vintage bikes will be on display in the pits and a number of special guests will be in attendance sharing their memories of Unadilla. Additionally, a number of special events are in store for Retro Day and details will be announced as the race approaches.
