Just as the weatherman promised, rain has arrived in the Southern California area and things are quite wet at Anaheim Stadium, where they’re gearing up for tomorrow’s opening round of the AMA THQ Supercross Series, and the third round of the FIM THQ World Supercross GP Series
Unfortunately, heavy rain is on the forecast all weekend, but, depending on which weather report you listen to, there might be at least a small break in the rain sometime tomorrow, but no matter what, there will be a race, rain or shine.
The track builders, Dirt Wurx, finished the track last night (Thursday), and the entire course is currently covered in plastic, and it won’t be removed until tomorrow. As you probably know by now, today’s practice was officially cancelled, so the first time the riders will get to take a lap won’t be until sometime Saturday.
As mentioned, the race will run rain or shine, but there’s talk that modifications will be incorporated into tomorrow’s racing program. We’re getting word that there will be no qualifying and that the main event might be reduced to just the heat races (no semis) and the main events. We’ll post an update on this as soon as we hear official word.
But for now, things are cold, wet and gray at the stadium, but some of the teams are going about their business as usual, and the rain hasn’t seemed to dampened anyone’s enthusiasm for tomorrow’s big race, including that of Dunlop’s Jay Clark, here earning every penny of his paycheck.
