Richard Sainct won today’s 17th stage of the Dakar Rally, but with just a single stage left, Nani Roma is on the verge of taking the overall victory.
Sainct gained two minutes and five seconds on Roma today, but the Spaniard still leads by five minutes and two seconds in the overall standings. Roma managed to finish second in today’s stage, topping Cyril Despres, Alfie Cox and Fabrizio Meoni.
Red Bull KTM’s Larry Roeseler ended up 10th today and he’s now 12th overall, though it looks like he could only realistically gain another spot in the overall standings on the final day. His teammate Paul Krause finished 21st today and is 18th overall.
