Lampkin Gets Beat

After having won the first four days of competition in the FIM World Championship Trials Series, defending champ Dougie Lampkin was defeated on Saturday in Mons, Belgium. The Montesa rider made a couple of costly slip-ups, and an extremely easy course (by World Trials standards) made it impossible for him to recover. Claiming the win was Team Tarres/Gas Gas’ Marc Freixa, while Lampkin held on for second. Third and fourth were held by the champ’s Montesa/HRC teammates, Marc Colomer and Takahisa Fujinami, respectively.

Freixa had a let-down on Sunday, finishing a lowly 12th, while Lampkin rebounded for a victory. Finishing second was Gas Gas rider Bruno Camozzi, in his strongest ride of the young season, and Colomer was third.
