Spaniard Juan Roma continues to lead the Total Dakar-Cairo 2000 Rally, and he now has his KTM some 12 minutes ahead of BMW’s Richard Sainct.
Meanwhile, American Jimmy Lewis has slipped down to sixth overall on his BMW, though he fared much better than Dakar veteran Jordi Arcarons. The Spaniard suffered a mechanical failure during stage three and has dropped out of the top 10.
“Today was real enduro going,” said KTM team manager Heinz Kinigadner. “With all second and third gear stuff which suited the KTMs much more than the BMWs, especially the twins.”
