Scaysbrook bested Spider Grips Ducati rider Carlin Dunne (Ducati MTS1260 Pikes Peak) by 1.343s. KTM North America’s and defending PPIHC Champion Chris Fillmore was a sensation third overall on KTM 790 Duke. Chris is bidding for the Middleweight and Overall class wins.
It was an unusual day for the PPIHC riders, as Qualifying is normally held on the Friday before Sunday’s race day. Scaysbrook’s pole time came on his fourth and final run after the team made a few changes to the front suspension, enabling him to knock three seconds off his run three time.
“The bike is starting to feel really good,” Scaysbrook said. “The track was extremely slick in the morning but as more bikes got moving, the grip came up. It’s nice to have pole position but I have some work to do over the middle and top sections. I’m not getting too far ahead of myself.”
With the start positions now finalized, the following three days are just practice for the motorcycle contingent. Race day for the 2018 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is scheduled for Sunday, June 24.
