The FIM MXGP series will visit Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina on September 2-3, 2016 for the penultimate round of the series. It was originally announced that the track would be created inside the venue’s 4 Wide Dragstrip facility but the new map shows that the track will be build inside the half mile Dirt Track oval.
The Monster Energy MXGP of the Americas course layout was designed by noted MXGP track designer Justin Barclay, who will be on site throughout construction of the track being labeled the SuperCourse.
“The MXGP track builders have come up with an amazing design,” said Marcus Smith, Charlotte Motor Speedway president and general manager. “The brand-new SuperCourse at The Dirt Track at Charlotte will deliver an unprecedented motocross showcase during a two-night spectacle of speed on Sept. 2-3.”
This will be the first MXGP visit to the east coast in several years and several tom American MX stars are expected to take on the top European riders. Eli Tomac, Justin Barcia and Chad Reed (The Australian that is US based) will face off against Tim Gajser, the current MXGP red plate holder and Roman Febvre, the 2015 MXGP champion.
